GENERAL INFORMATION
The Handmade Edit is a curated online select shop. All product descriptions are true to the best of our knowledge. We try our best to keep this information as accurate as possible and updated.
Please note that the colours of the items in real life may vary slightly from as seen in pictures. This is due to various conditions including (but not limited to) lighting, device screen settings etc. If you have any questions about any particular item (including colour, size, fit, fabric) please get in touch with us and we will be happy to help you. Items once sold cannot be returned and/or exchanged unless there is a shipping error or in an unlikely event that you have received a defective piece. (For more details, please read our returns and refunds policy)
All items displayed on our website are made using one or more traditional techniques used in making cloth and/or dyeing cloth and/or making a finished product. Please note that handspun, handwoven and/or hand-dyed fabric, and handcrafted products have slight / inherent colour and texture variations that exist because of the production methods and techniques. These variations are part of the beauty of handmade and handcrafted items.

 

PAYMENT METHODS
Payment can be made via credit card, Pay Pay, or direct bank transfer. Please ask us for the Pay Pay QR code via email if that is your preferred mode.
For bulk orders or to purchase directly and to pay via bank transfer, please contact us via email on urvashi@thehandmadeedit.shop and we will help you with your purchase and bank details and other necessary information.
Please note, in case of bank transfer, your order is considered confirmed after we have received confirmation of transfer. Bank transfer fee is to be paid by the customer. 

 

SHIPPING
Delivery method: Japan Post or Yamato Transport
Shipping limitations: We do not ship outside of Japan. We do not ship to PO Box addresses. If you want delivery at a particular time of day, please email us with your order number and we will process your request accordingly.
Shipping fee
All purchases above ¥10,000 are eligible for free shipping. For orders below ¥10,000 the shipping fee is ¥550. For Okinawa and Hokkaido, and other remote locations, the shipping fee for orders under ¥10,000 is ¥1,100. Orders above ¥10,000 are eligible for free delivery.
Delivery time: We are a small and sustainable business and we want to adopt practices that are good for our planet. We want to actively participate in preventing wastage of resources throughout the value chain of every garment and accessory listed on our website. So we keep only a few popular pieces in stock and everything else is made only on order. This means that for some items you will have to wait for a few days, but by doing that you have played a small part in helping prevent wastage of precious raw material and resources.
Items that are in stock and available as “Ready to Ship” are marked so on the product description page. These items will be shipped within 3 business days after payment confirmation. You will receive an email update from us after your item has been shipped. Depending on the delivery address, items may take anywhere between 1-3 weeks to arrive.
For items marked “Made to order” the following process applies. Only after payment confirmation, your order is considered confirmed. You will get an order confirmation email from us. After that we inform our partners and start processing your order. This takes up to 14 business days. We will inform you once the item is ready for dispatch. Once the item has been shipped it takes approximately 14 business days for it to arrive at the delivery address. We will also inform you when the item has been quality checked in Japan and shipped to you. 
You can get in touch with us and let us know if you want more frequent updates. By adopting a “made to order” approach we can reduce garment waste together by preventing making extra items. By supporting this effort you support a cleaner planet. We agree that waiting for an item you love is hard, but we promise it will be worth the wait.
*We try our best to keep our limited inventory updated. If however something goes out of stock at the time of your purchase we will get in touch with you as soon as possible and inform you about steps for refund. If such an item is likely to be restocked soon we will inform you accordingly and process your order in case you are willing to wait for the particular item, or process a refund if you would prefer not to wait.
