Garment care

WASHING

Correct washing and drying makes your clothes last longer and keeps the colours looking as good as new. In general, it is always best to cold wash garments made of natural fabrics, on a gentle cycle in the washing machine. Line dry in shade and iron on reverse. Do not tumble dry.
For silks and wools, handwashing or a delicate cycle on a washing machine (please use appropriate washing bag) is recommended. Line dry in shade and gentle iron. Do not tumble dry.

IRONING

Some of us love it, some of us hate it, but it always makes every outfit look better. Did you know, ironing correctly can also increase the lifespan of your clothes? It all comes down to the fabric of your garment and the heat and method used for ironing.
Always look at the garment label for specific instructions.  Below are some general guidelines.

COTTON

Using high heat is ok for cotton. Dampening the item, or spraying it with a bit of water (either with a bottle or with the spray function of your iron) helps iron out stubborn creases. Handheld steam irons are ok to use.

LINEN

Like cotton, linen can handle high heat. Use water spray to remove stubborn creases. Handheld steam irons are ok to use.

COTTON-SILK

+

Cotton silk can handle medium heat. Iron on reverse and try to use a press cloth on stubborn creases if needed. Handheld steam irons are ok to use.

SILK

This is a more delicate fabric and it is advised to use medium to low heat. Always iron on the reverse. Ideally use a press cloth on top of the silk item to prevent any damage. If using a handheld steam iron, use the lowest setting with the appropriate attachments.

WOOL

Like with silk, use medium to low heat, and use a press cloth. Iron on reverse. Let the garment cool down before storing. If using a handheld steam iron, use the lowest setting with the appropriate attachments.
If you don’t know the material of the outfit, start with the lowest heat setting and first try ironing on the reverse close to an inner seam. Do not test iron a garment on the front / bodice.
